Valeo's vision

Published on

"The automotive industry is undergoing three simultaneous revolutions: the electrification of the drivetrain, the rise of the autonomous vehicle and the digital revolution, which is paving the way for new user practices. Anchoring innovation at the heart of its strategy very early on, Valeo is now at the epicenter of these three revolutions. In 2017, the Group intends to hold onto its leading position as highlighted by the 1.6 billion euros invested in Research and Development last year as well as the 1,800 patents filed internationally, ranking it as the top French patent filer with the European Patent Office.

We need to learn new skills to keep on this innovation fast track, which explains why we are focusing our efforts on deep learning and artificial intelligence. These technologies are key to developing the car of the future, namely the autonomous and connected car. As part of this vision, we announced in June 2017 the opening of Paris-based, the first global research center dedicated to these two disciplines in automotive applications.

Valeo has also become a partner of the Machine Learning Chair at Telecom ParisTech university, demonstrating our keen awareness of the challenge of attracting new talent and developing specialized training courses. This commitment reflects our open-innovation mindset: a company in touch with the academic and scientific community as well as with start-ups, with the goal of jointly developing innovative solutions for the automotive sector."
